Shahanaz Chowdhury is a Professor & Head, Department of Community Medicine, Faculty of Public Health at BUHS, Adjunct Faculty, BUP. She holds MBBS from SSMC (1996), MPH (RCH) from NIPSOM (2003), MBGPH (AUSN, USA), 2015. She obtained PhD in Bioethics, sustainability and Global Public Health from AUSN, USA (2019). Now PhD fellow at BUP on Evaluation of End-of-life care support in Intensive Care Units at government hospitals in Bangladesh: Guidance for developing a framework.

Fields of interest
She has worked extensively in the fields of Reproductive and Child Health, Bioethics, and Global Health, focusing on both Communicable and Noncommunicable Diseases. Her work also extends to Palliative and End of Life Care, where she has been involved in addressing ethical dilemmas and improving patient outcomes in these critical areas.
Research partners
For her research, she works in close cooperation with BRAC University, BMRC, icddr,b and NCDCP and DGHS, BCCP, Ministry of Science and Technology, Bangladesh, BRF, Bangladesh and CARE Bangladesh HIV Program.
Thesis supervision:
Field of expertise: NCD risk factors, immunization and vaccines, disabilities, Alzheimer’s disease, chikungunya, cervical cancer, end-of-life care, autism spectrum disorder and gestational diabetes mellitus. Intestinal parasitic infestation, antenatal care, pulmonary tuberculosis, clubfoot treatment, injecting drug use, and diabetic retinopathy.
